When we face uncertainty in our lives, we may feel swept away with anxiety and worry about the future.
Whether we are dealing with a health concern, a family member needing our care, financial difficulties or relationship breakdown, uncertainty about the future is something we all have to face during our lifetimes.
In our current environment, both in Ireland and globally, we are collectively facing uncertainty and this also impacts on us in our personal lives.
So how can we best navigate uncertainty in our lives?

Try to focus just on today for now- what can you do for yourself today that would feel nourishing or distracting in a positive way?
Maybe this is the time to take back up a hobby or past time you used to enjoy.
Take some time outdoors if you can as anxiety always feels lessened when we are out in nature and/or around other people.
Be aware of what you are consuming in terms of news or social media- are you doom scrolling and feeding your anxiety?
This may be a good time to practice taking a pause and really being present.
It may be five minutes outside taking some deep breaths, listening to some uplifting music, making yourself a coffee or tea to take outside, listening to birdsong.
Focus on what you can choose and control right now- e.g. I can choose to take a 15 minute break from my work, I can make a nutritious meal for my family this evening, I can choose to schedule in some a daily walk.
For now focus on what you do have control over- getting enough sleep, eating well, getting daily exercise and talking to a friend or family member about how you are feeling.
Build up the resources and supports around you that you do have control over so that you don't feel overwhelmed by stress and worry.
The stronger your mind and body feel, the easier it will be to cope with uncertainty.
