The Mind That Never Switches Off
Many clients come for support after they have noticed that their mind never switches off.
They may have a weekend off work or a holiday and discover that they cannot stop their mind from being busy and stressed.
They may still feel tired and drained after time off because of the busyness of their mind.
Without the body getting the chance to relax and 'rest and digest, over time, this can take its toll on the body resulting in problems like insomnia, high functioning anxiety, digestive issues, headaches, blood pressure and low immunity.

The habit of being in their head thinking, planning, organising may be the result of years of cumulative stress from a demanding job, financial responsibilities, minding an elderly relative or a child with extra needs or looking after many different loved ones.
He or she may be the one everyone comes to when there is a problem within the family or a workplace.
The more the mind carries, the harder it becomes to switch it off to relax.
Physical rest and psychological rest are not always the same thing.
People can carry a sense of responsibility for others no matter what they are doing. This can often have roots in childhood experiences.
Other people can feel guilty for doing nothing rather than seeing that rest is doing something productive.
Rest does not need to be a reward for exhausting yourself.
Resting will in fact make you more productive!
I find that when I incorporate a set short time to rest in my day, I have more energy for the tasks for the rest of the day rather than pushing through.
Sometimes it is necessary to give yourself the permission to not complete everything in your day.
Can you leave some energy in the tank for you?
Is it possible for you to leave some things unfinished in your day?
How would you be different if you felt you didn't have to complete every task today?
Learning to switch off your mind is a skill you can learn once you understand what is driving your need to be as busy as you are.
